Basic kit for electrical arrangements in your home

Last week one of the house keys was ruined and that made me think that I still haven't explained what my perfect basic kit for electrical arrangements is in my home. It was wonderful, I was able to repair it without a problem! In addition, these tools also help me to expand installations or experiment with new features.

Here are the tools that I consider essential to this basic kit that we must all have in our home to cover most of the usual repair needs. Some are essential tools and others will make your job easier, so you can do it quickly and comfortably, but all of them are very useful. Here you go!

PLIERS, THE BEST ALLIES

null

Pliers are essential tools for electrical assembly work. They are used to cut and peel cables, so it is necessary to have at least one of universal size and one of a size of your choice. At Jaype I was advised the HR Universal Plier and the Setting/Cutting/Peeling Pliers, with different notches for various diameters of power cord.

In addition, I also made myself with a Mini pliers flat mouths,to be able to grasp the cables firmly, in addition to loosening small nuts and catching small objects. I'm delighted!

To avoid scares and prevent accidents, it is very important that both pliers and tweezers have in plastic handle or insulating material. Better heal in health!

SCREWDRIVERS CAN NEVER BE MISSING

null

Essential for tightening and loosening screws, screwdrivers can't be missing from your basic tool kit for electrical repairs. I recommend you to have several, among them the most important is the plane, to be able to be small and always with the handle of insulating material, such as the ERGO flat tip screwdriver™. I also have among my favorites the star tip, also properly insulated and small diameter. Mine is Phillips HR Mouth Screwdriver.

In addition, if you can, also get an insulated screwdriver / special voltage checker for 15-250V, very practical to check the existence of electricity before starting work or when you have finished installation. The screwdriver handle has a small light that when turned on warns you that there is a current.

TESTER, THE MULTIPURPOSE METER

null

The tester, also called a multimeter or meter,is a portable tool used to measure currents, voltages, resistances, intensities and continuities, among other electrical measures.

It's important to have one in your toolbox, as for example the ELECTRO DH digital multimeter, because some work cannot be done with another tool, and although it is not indispensable, I recommend it, because it is very useful to detect faults quickly, as with the light key that I changed last week: I could know immediately that it did not make contact when it was triggered, and in this way, when disarming it to change it already knew that this was the problem that was affecting the malfunction of the light. Easy and fast!

INSULATORY TAPE AND ELECTRIC CABLE DON'T FORGET THEM!

null

It is highly recommended to have insulating tape in your kit to insulate our connections or terminations well in all electrical works, as it is used for the insulation of two cables when they are momentarily peeled. You don't need a big roll, with a 20 meter it's more than enough, such as the ELECTRO DH black PVC insulating tape.

Also, personally I like to have a few meters of electric cable at home, so it could happen. At Mahon's Jaype store, they cut off the meters you need. It's great!

HAVE A FLASHLIGHT HANDY

null

Most power outages occur at night or in dark places, which is just when we have the light on. That is why it is very important to have a good flashlight and always have it at hand and in the same place, which is also easy access to be able to find it easily when you need it.

I have a Headlamp with 12 LEDS high brightness LED ELECTRO DH,which I also use for hiking, and a Mini Aluminum Flashlight 9 LED ELECTRO DH next to the electric panel. Oh, by the way! You have to keep them in good condition and with the batteries or batteries charged, otherwise it won't do us any good!

SAFETY FIRST AND FOREMOST

null

One of the most important points when you want to make an electrical arrangement is to disconnect the current, unplug the appliance or lower the differential. And even, to make sure, use the tester to detect stresses.

In addition, it is essential that you wear rubber shoes and never make a barefoot arrangement, with wet feet or hands, because water is the best electrical conductor there is. Avoid getting a scare!

Don't forget that a facility in good condition is the best prevention. Pay attention to possible breakdowns. I recommend you check the plugs from time to time and if you see that they have changed color or smell to burn, cut the current immediately and unplug the cable from the power outlet. You should also avoid overheating plugs due to having many devices connected to them, as they may even burn.

Although small electrical fixes in the home do not need great knowledge, it is important to keep in mind that working with the electric current is dangerous and that, in case of doubt, you do as I do and call a professional, because if you overload the installation there can be greater consequences, both personal and economic.
